Baker Glass: An Incredible HistoryJanuary 2012
When you mention Baker Glass in El Paso you are bound to get someone’s rendition of the famous Baker Glass jingle that got its start back in the 1960s. “For faster service on broken glass, see Baker right away.” Still played today, the jingle is definitely catchy! What people may not know is that Baker Glass is a family owned and operated business steeped in history and tradition.
It all began in London, back in 1855 by Baker patriarch, James Baker. Mr. Baker made stained glass and after a time spent struggling in London, he decided to move his family and business to America, where he would set up shop in New York. Baker shared the craft with his son and from New York to Colorado and on to El Paso, through good times and bad, the Baker family persevered and became experts in their field.
The entire Makios team is proud to work with Baker Glass, they are an inspiration to us in their ability to adapt while maintaining the integrity that has seen them through constantly changing times.
“Makios was recommended to us at a very difficult time. After suddenly losing our in-house IT person in the spring of 2008, the Makios team got to work solving our immediate problems. Makios has since guided us in bringing our entire system up to date. Our relationship with Makios is long term as we look forward to working with them well into the future,” says Baker Glass Co-Owner, Dave Baker.
Baker Glass is currently owned and operated by Dave and Tom Baker, and although stained glass is no longer part of their business, they offer replacement auto glass, windows, residential mirrors, shower doors, and commercial store fronts and entrances.
